New Netflix Corporate Campus Focuses on a Delightful Human Environment
View is proud to add another major corporate campus to its list of completed projects, this time in Los Gatos, California. Netflix’s newly constructed campus focuses heavily on creating a delightful employee experience. With the addition of View Dynamic Glass, Netflix employees now have abundant natural light and unobstructed views of the outdoors, which studies have shown increases worker productivity, as a result of the dramatic improvement in comfort and well-being. The Sand Hill Property / Carlyle development was designed by architecture firms Gensler and Form Four, constructed by Devcon, and the glazier was Royal Glass. The use of dynamic, self-tinting glass highlights Sand Hill Properties commitment to innovative, sustainable building and the Netflix focus on employee wellness.
As View CEO, Rao Mulpuri puts it, “Companies have followed Netflix’s lead from a business, design and cultural perspective for years. We expect Netflix’s strategic decision to invest in the well-being and productivity of its employees through View Dynamic Glass will similarly inspire others to follow suit.”
Approximately 56,000-square-feet of View Dynamic Glass has been installed on the 485,000-square-foot Netflix site. “In creating a world-class office space, we looked to innovative technologies – like View Dynamic Glass – that would positively impact employees’ day-to-day lives,” said Nandy Kumar, partner at Sand Hill Property Company, which oversaw the construction of the campus.
In addition to controlling heat and glare, the glass will significantly reduce air conditioning and lighting costs, resulting in anticipated energy savings of up to 20 percent, particularly during peak hours when energy costs are at their highest.
